Testimonials for this course (more below...):

"This is a great and fascinating overview. It is refreshing to experience Gabe's intelligent and grounded approach to this subject."

- N.S., Boulder Colorado

"Gabriel is like a young William James in the impeccability, rigor, erudition and philosophic precision of his approach to the paranormal. Unlike James, Gabriel has far more personal experience to inform his intuition and research and create a synthesis which he never hardens into dogma. His emphasis is in providing advanced tools and skills rather then fixed conclusions."

Course description:

Throughout human history people have reported exceptional experiences that were of a transcendent, spiritual or psychic nature. Reports of visions, unusual dreams, mystical awakenings, near-death experiences, apparitions, religious ecstasy, trance, transcendent meditative states, extrasensory perception, foreseeing the future and numerous other phenomena permeate our historical records worldwide and went by different names in various cultures. Today in the West these experiences may also be referred to as transpersonal, spiritual, psychic, mystical, religious, paranormal, anomalous or as altered states of consciousness.

For millennia, these experiences have been sought to solve problems, enhance self-development, find meaning, and get answers to the biggest questions we have about life, death and the nature of self and reality. Some occurred spontaneously while others were induced through various methods, like meditation. They have shaped events in history, transformed individuals and groups, led to the creation of entire religions and, unbeknownst to many, have inspired some of our greatest scientific and artistic achievements. Despite this, many people are unaware of this fascinating forgotten history, ripe with major philosophical, historical and scientific implications.

From the Shamanism of Native American Indians and the Greek Oracle at Delphi, to advanced meditators in Eastern traditions, the mediums of Spiritualism, and the birth of scientific research into such experiences in Parapsychology and Transpersonal Psychology. This course will explore the events, experiences, ideas, people, and movements that shaped our spiritual and psychic history. It will show an overview of the great potential that lies within all of us to experience a more expanded reality

.Note: Gabriel takes a historical and anthropological approach to the topics in the course. He will provide insightful commentary on the historical content presented in the class, based on research in cognitive psychology, transpersonal psychology, and parapsychology, as well as from his over 20 years of personal experience with transformative and spiritual practices. The approach taken in this course is non-dogmatic, non-religious, and takes an objective research oriented approach to phenomena.
